Reports To: Executive Director for Exceptional Children's Services
Terms of Employment: Permanent, 12 Month Position
Nature of Work:
Performs intermediate professional work serving as the program liaison to stakeholders
within and outside of the school assigned to ensure best practices are being followed for
compliance and service delivery, and related work regarding the EC Preschool Program.. Work
is performed under the limited supervision of the Executive Director for Exceptional
Children’s Services.
Qualifications and Licensure:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Certified North Carolina B-K teaching license
- Ability to model lessons, develop and/or facilitate engaging professional development
- Knowledgeable effective staff development models for adult learners that lead to increased student achievement
- Must possess a NC Driver’s license
- Experience working with personnel and families
- Could be alternatives to the above qualification as the administration finds appropriate
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in implementing Wilson County Schools Exceptional Children’s preschool programs.
- Serves as the liaison for agencies involved with the EC Preschool Program.
- Promotes stakeholders involvement in the educational process.
- Shares information with agencies and organizations within WIlson County and throughout the State that offer resources and services for Exceptional Children.
- Assists in implementation of training for personnel.
- Visits classrooms regularly and provides teacher feedback and coaching to improve instruction as well as to address implementation issues.
- Collaborates with teachers on program improvement and instructional interventions for preschool students who are at-risk of not meeting federal, state, or district performance standards.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, repetitive motions, frequently requires standing, walking and sitting and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting
- Work has standard vision requirements
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word level
Special Requirements (if applicable):
The employee must have knowledge of student advocacy services available to students. Must have strong ability in written and verbal communication to effectively express and in making oral presentations. Must have an understanding of the Preschool Pyramid Model. Must have the ability to advocate for students and personnel and provide constructive feedback. The employee must be familiar with coaching practices. The employee must have the ability to be comfortable working with teachers, administrators, parents and outside agencies.
